This week’s Hank Ellis All-Stars: Rylen Carlyle and Weldon Zirkle

My Buckhannon is proud to present another spring of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week, we will select a male and female athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur who has had an exemplary week on the baseball and softball diamonds, lacrosse fields, the track, and tennis courts.

Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of May 4 – May 10 are Rylen Caryle and Weldon Zirkle.

Carlyle is a junior on the Lady Buc track and field team. In the Big 10 Conference Championships at Elkins, Carlyle won the long jump title with a leap of 16’ 10.5. She also scored in the 100-meter dash for the Lady Bucs, placing sixth with a time of 13.08.

Zirkle is a senior on the Buccaneer baseball team. Zirkle pitched a complete game in leading the Bucs to an 8-3 road win over Lewis County. He gave up just two earned runs on six hits while striking out eight. At the plate against Lewis County, he had a hit and scored two runs.

Congratulations to Carlyle and Zirkle as our weekly winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
