My Buckhannon is proud to present another year of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week, we will select a male and female athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur who has had an exemplary week on the basketball court, swimming pool or wrestling mat.
Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of Jan. 12 – Jan. 18 are Madelyn Tucker and Jerin Westfall.
Tucker is a sophomore on the Lady Buc basketball team. She helped B-U to their first win of the year with a 20-point, 13-rebound effort in a 58-43 victory over Robert C. Byrd. She followed that up with 11 points and eight rebounds in a 57-44 victory over Sissonville in a perfect 2-0 week. She averaged 15.5 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game during the week.
Westfall is a senior on the Buccaneer basketball team. In a 67-57 home win over Wheeling Park, he scored his 1,000th career point. He had a game-high 34 points and 14 rebounds to go along with six assists in the Wheeling Park win. In a loss to Robert C. Byrd, he tallied 23 points and 17 rebounds, averaging 28.5 points and 15.5 rebounds in the two contests.
