This week’s Hank Ellis All-Stars: Liam Garcia and Harley Dean

BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another edition of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week, we will select a female and male athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur who has had an exemplary week on the basketball court, the wrestling mat, or the swimming pool.

Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the weeks of Nov. 27 – Dec. 10 are Liam Garcia and Harley Dean.

Garcia is a senior on the wrestling team. He helped the Bucs win their opening dual against Lewis County with a 4-1 decision over Luke Boram in the 132-pound weight class and then took fourth place in the 126-pound weight class at the Elite Opener at Washington High School. Garcia lost his first match but rebounded to win his next four at the tournament, including getting his 100th career win with a 6-0 decision over Scott Roberts of Riverbend High.

Dean is a junior on the Lady Buc basketball team. Coming off the bench, she helped the Lady Bucs down Pendleton County in their season opener by a 63-38 score. She led the team with 18 points and nine rebounds, just missing out on a double-double. She also added one assist and one steal.
