This week’s Hank Ellis All-Stars: Joey Nolte and Samantha Shreve

BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another season of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week, we will select a male and female athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur who has had an exemplary week on the football field, soccer field, cross country course, volleyball court or golf course.

Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the weeks of Oct. 28 – Nov. 3 are Joey Nolte and Samantha Shreve.

Nolte is a junior on the Buccaneer cross country team. He qualified for the state meet and finished an impressive 21st out of 102 runners with a time of 17:03.42. It was the highest finish and best time of a Buccaneer at the state meet since head coach Taylor Stacy took over five years ago. Nolte just missed out on Second Team All-State honors by one place.

Shreve is a senior on the Lady Buc cross country team. She made history at the state meet, becoming the first individual to win the championship at Buckhannon-Upshur. Competing against the state’s best, she won the state championship, leading from start to finish, with a time of 18:27.83, which was 13 seconds ahead of the second-place runner. She defeated 101 other competitors.

Congratulations to Nolte and Shreve as our weekly winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
