This week’s Hank Ellis All-Stars: Jack Waggy and Harley Dean

BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another edition of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week we will select a male and female athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur who has had an exemplary week on the football field, soccer field, volleyball court, golf course or the cross-country course.

Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of Aug. 28 – Sept. 3 are Jack Waggy and Harley Dean.

Waggy is a junior on the cross-country team. At the Buckhannon-Upshur Invitational on Saturday, Waggy outran 95 other runners to win the team’s home race at the high school. Waggy ran the course in 17:12.50, seven full seconds ahead of runner-up Nathaniel Stuck of East Fairmont.

Dean is a junior forward on the Lady Bucs soccer team. In a 3-0 week for the Lady Bucs, Dean tallied seven goals. She had a hat trick on her birthday against Lincoln in a 3-2 victory, had a goal in a 3-0 win over Preston and scored three times in an 11-1 win over Martinsburg.

Congratulations to Waggy and Dean as our weekly winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
