BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another edition of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week, we will select a female and male athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur who has had an exemplary week on the baseball and softball diamonds, the track and field, the lacrosse field, or the tennis courts.

Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of April 15 – April 21 are Ian Strader and Samantha Shreve.

Strader is a senior on the Buccaneer track and field team. In a five-team home meet last Tuesday, he was part of four victories, one individual and three relay teams. He won the 400-meter event with a time of 52.39, which was a personal best. He was also part of the first-place 4×100-meter, 4×200-meter and 4×110-meter hurdle relay teams. In an invitational at North Marion on Friday, he was part of three relay teams, the 4×100-meter, 4×200-meter and 4×110-meter hurdles, and took third out of 32 runners in the 400 meters (52.80).

Shreve is a junior on the Lady Buc track and field team. In her debut in a five-team home meet on Tuesday, she was the final leg on the first-place 4×400-meter relay team, which posted a time of 4:25.76. Then, in her first individual race of the year at an invitational at North Marion, she won the 1600-meter run, defeating 24 other runners with a time of 5:16.60. That time is a new school record in the 1600-meter run.

Congratulations to Strader and Shreve as our weekly winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
