BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another edition of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week we will select a female and male athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur that has had an exemplary week on the football field, soccer field, volleyball court or the cross country course.

Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of August 29 – September 4 are Ian Donnen and Lydia Falkenstein.

Donnen is a senior quarterback/defensive back on the Buccaneer football team. After having to miss B-U’s opener last week at Bridgeport, Donnen returned to the line-up to lead the Bucs to a 13-7 victory in their home opener. Donnen had both scores for the Bucs with a pair of two-yard touchdown runs and led the offense that piled up 250 yards. He was back in action again Friday as the Bucs toppled Philip Barbour.

Falkenstein is a senior on the Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc cross country team and a repeat winner of the All-Star honor.

At the Buccaneer Invitational last Saturday, Falkenstein defeated 68 other runners to take first place with a time of 20:36.71. She was 50 seconds ahead of the runner-up, which was teammate Samantha Shreve. She also helped the Lady Bucs win the nine team event. She is currently ranked third in the RunWV Class AAA girl’s rankings.

Congratulations to Donnen and Falkenstein as our weekly winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
