BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another edition of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week, we will select a female and male athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur who has had an exemplary week on the basketball court, the wrestling mat, or the swimming pool.
Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of Feb. 12 – Feb. 18 are Andrew McDowell and Alyssa Abel.
McDowell is a junior on the B-U wrestling team. This past weekend in the Region 1 Championships at Bridgeport, McDowell won the title in the 138-pound division. He compiled a 3-0 record with two pins, five takedowns and one escape.
Abel is a junior on the Lady Buc basketball team. In a 1-1 week for the Lady Bucs, she averaged 12.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.5 rebounds. In a 59-32 win over Fairmont Senior, she had 10 points, eight rebounds and four steals, then against No. 5 Morgantown, she had a team-high 15 points and team highs in rebounds (8) and steals (5).
