There’s still time to sign up for the 2021 Leadership Academy — and financial assistance is available

BUCKHANNON – Want to dig into what’s going on in your local community and learn how to be a leader?

Then, the 2021 Create Buckhannon 2021 Leadership Academy is for you, and slots are still available for residents to sign up through Sunday, Jan. 31.

During the 10-week program, you’ll learn how Buckhannon and Upshur County government and organizations function, and this academy is an excellent chance to learn how to become an active part of the community.

The program starts Wednesday, Feb. 10 and will continue for 10 weeks, meeting virtually each Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. The cost is $25, which must be paid in advance. Space is limited to 30 participants, but spots are still up for grabs.

If you’re a high school student interested in government, civics, nonprofits or another related area, Create Buckhannon recently approved covering the $25 fee for 10 high school students, should they want to participate. In addition, any registrants who need financial help may obtain assistance via a scholarship through the Upshur County Family Resource Network.

You may contact the Upshur FRN by emailing upshurfrn@yahoo.com, and Create Buckhannon by calling 304-516-4814 or emailing create.buckhannon@gmail.com
