WESTON, W.Va. – Terecia Alton, long-time employee of Dr. Khalid Mahmoud and Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital (SJMH) retired May 28.  She will be missed by her patients, co-workers, and Dr. Mahmoud, because she truly makes a difference in her patients’ lives, every day.

Dr. Mahmoud said, “Our patients like Terecia.  She has good telephone communications and she understands our patients’ needs. She spends time with them; is very respectful; and is always polite to them.  In her work here, she took on many roles and was very helpful to me.   When work was needed to be done, she completed it.”

After graduating from Buckhannon Upshur High School, Terecia worked at the Stone and Thomas store in Buckhannon for a decade.  In her spare time, she completed her education and became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).  She learned a variety of skills in healthcare while working at the office of Dr. Jeremy Klein, where she learned to draw blood, provide EKGs, administer shots, and carry out various other procedures.

After Dr. Klein’s departure, Tereica moved to the office of Dr. Ahmed Husari, pulmonologist.  She worked with him for a decade learning about pulmonology and sleep medicine. When Dr. Husari to returned to Lebanon, she worked with Dr. Kanj, Dr. Zurquat, and eventually Dr. Mahmoud.

She is saddened to be retiring but looks forward to the activities she will be undertaking.

“I hate to leave and have met a lot of wonderful people working in the office. I have made friends and met many patients along my journey in the medical field. I will miss my co-workers, Dr. Mahmoud, and the employees at SJMH, and most importantly, the patients.  I am looking forward to retirement to spend more time with my family, especially my grandchildren,” she explained.

She also plans on spending more time gardening, fishing, crafting, and committing more time to her church – Murphy’s Creek Baptist Church.

“I enjoy working with the youth at church.  My Christian faith is what has helped me get through life.  God has always been there for me. I want to thank SJMH for giving me the opportunity to be employed at their facility and wish them the best,” she concluded.

Terecia was born in Buckhannon to Annabelle Gaunt Tolliver and the late Glen T. Tolliver. She is married to Arthur Alton, and the couple had two daughters and a son – Tiffany Alton Orsburn, of Weston, and Annette “Brook” Alton Fiber, of Flemington, and the late Jeremy Todd Weaver. The couple has three grandchildren – Levi Orsburn, of Weston, Emeri and Reece Fiber, of Flemington.
