Tennis Lady ‘Cats crush Cal (Pa.), 6-1

CALIFORNIA, Pa.– The West Virginia Wesleyan women’s tennis team was back in action on Thursday as they traveled north to play California University of Pennsylvania. The Lady Bobcats proved to be too strong as they defeated the Vulcans 6-1. 

The doubles pairings for the Orange and Black were strong as they took two of the three doubles matches to secure the first point. Sai Sakamoto and Cayley Symons won their matchup at No. 2 in convincing fashion 6-2. Rebecca Osborne and Madison Chen followed suite at No. 3 winning their matchup 6-2 as well. 

In singles action, WVWC proved to be too much as they won five out of the six matchups. Sai Sakamoto won a three set thriller at No. 1, 6-2, 6-7 (2), 10-5. Julia Pinto won in straight sets at No. 2, 6-0, 6-1. Symons was electric on the afternoon winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Rounding out the scoring for the ‘Cats was Chen at No. 5 winning 6-1, 6-2, and Molly Hull claiming a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6.
