Fairmont State University Town and Gown Players present the award-winning musical “Come From Away” June 19-28 in Wallman Hall Theater, with tickets on sale now online or at the box office.

The West Virginia Humanities Council has released the summer 2026 issue of People & Mountains, featuring folklorist Gerald “Gerry” Milnes, the Robert Higgins House restoration in Moorefield, and the rise of history-themed board games.

Marcus Caldeira’s childhood dream became reality when the WVU soccer standout from Mississauga, Ontario, joined Minnesota United FC. After four standout seasons with the Mountaineers, he graduated a semester early with a 4.0 GPA and turned years of work into a pro career.

Davis & Elkins College will host the 2026 American Legion Auxiliary Rhododendron Girls State June 7–13, welcoming more than 200 rising high school seniors for a week of civic leadership and mock government.

The Stockert Youth and Community Center will make its playground a closed campus when the center has kids outside, such as during after-school and Camp Buccaneer hours. It will remain open to the public at all other times. Officials say the change will improve safety.

West Virginia Wesleyan College has renamed its long-running Spirit Award the Alisa Suttle Spirit Award, honoring the 1992 founder who retired June 1 after 39 years of service. Two students from each class receive the award annually, with eight Bobcats recognized this year.
