Stephen Mark Hamner

Stephen Mark Hamner, 55, of Rock Cave was carried Home by angels after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, September 18, 2020 at his residence.

He was born in Buckhannon on November 6, 1964, a son of Waneta Mae Gregory Hamner and the late French Lloyd Hamner. In addition to his father, Stephen was preceded in death by five brothers: French Jr., Frank, Philip, Michael John, and Paul Hamner; and one sister, Minnie Mae Hamner.

Stephen’s loving nature will be remembered by his mother, Waneta Hamner of Rock Cave; six siblings: Melva Teter and husband, Harold, of Walkersville, Richard Hamner, Julia Hamner, Allan “Sputter” Hamner and companion, Sherri Friend, Stanley Hamner and wife, Jamie, and Lisa Perrine and husband, Richard, all of Gaines; several nieces and nephews; two children-of-his-heart: Della and Shelley Brown; and his K-9 companion, Blackie.

Stephen graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School and was Methodist by faith. He worked as a mail carrier for 15 years transporting mail from Clarksburg to Charleston. Stephen loved being outdoors especially when he was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He had a heart of gold and was always letting you know just how much he loved you. Stephen especially enjoyed spoiling his nieces and nephews. He was a caring and kind-hearted son, brother, uncle, and father figure and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Stephen’s request for donation to WVU’s Human Gift Registry has been honored. A Private Service will be held at a later date.

We, at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon, are honored and privileged to serve the family of Stephen Mark Hamner. Online condolences may be expressed at www.ClutterFuneralHome.com.
