BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — St. Joseph’s Hospital recently honored Dan O’Brien with the Values Inspired Person (VIP) Award.

Dan is the lead officer in the hospital’s security department. His co-workers say that he embodies the values of the hospital. He goes out of his way to assist patients, ensuring that they are safe and their needs are met. He can often be seen displaying random acts of kindness from buying food for others in the Cafe to providing a homeless person with clothing. He works daily to make each person’s day better when he interacts with them. He is welcoming to our patients and fellow employees and displays kindness with a smile.

Staff agree that he is hard-working, helpful, pleasant and displays our hospital’s mission and values on a daily basis

The VIP Award is given bi-monthly to those who demonstrate the Christ values of the hospital: Compassion, Hospitality, Reverence, Interdependence, Stewardship and Trust.
