St. Joseph’s Hospital holds Valentine’s pet food and supply drive for Lewis-Upshur Animal Shelter

Buckhannon-Upshur is headed to the state lacrosse championship after steamrolling Mountain State 17-2 in Saturday’s semifinal at Freal “Red” Crites Memorial Stadium.

West Virginia Wesleyan’s NCAA run ended Friday with a 4-1 loss to Fairmont State in the Atlantic 1 Regional opener at Oxford Athletic Club. The Falcons seized the doubles point and won three singles matches, while Renata Pozzobon provided Wesleyan’s lone point.

John Michael “Mike” Whitehair, of Buckhannon, passed away on May 8, 2026, after battling lung cancer. A Navy veteran and longtime coal miner, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Marie-Luise Elisabeth Busz Flor, 89, of Buckhannon and formerly of the Eden/Gaines Community, Rock Cave, WV, passed away on May 9, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was an active church and senior center member and an artist.
