Spruce up your yard at Fred Brooks Garden Club plant auction

The Fred Brooks Garden Club Yard of the Month committee members will be starting to look in city neighborhoods for the best strawberry-themed decorated yard.

One yard in the city limits will be selected by May 10 as the Strawberry Yard of the Month, so show your Strawberry Festival spirit and get your yard ready for judging.

Also coming up in May, the Garden Club will be holding its annual Plant Auction on Monday, May 20, at 7 p.m., at the Tennerton United Methodist Church.  This is a fundraiser to support club activities throughout the year.

The money from the auction will be used by the club to help out with community planting projects.  The Fred Brooks Garden Club plants flowers at the Courthouse, Health Department, the Blue Star Memorial on Rt. 33, and Fred Brooks Park.

Club members will bring in plants from their gardens and flower beds to be auctioned off by club member Libby Randall. The public is invited to attend and bid on this great selection of plants.
