Splashers take 21 events on the road against Clarksburg Country Club

CLARKSBURG – The Buckhannon Swim Club Splashers won 21 events last week in a dual meet with the Clarksburg Country Club Swim Team.

Team scores were not presented.

The Splashers won four events in the Under-8 age group.

They went to Camdyn Egress in the 50-meter freestyle (46.68) and the 25-meter freestyle (20.25) for the boys while Tori Wilsoncroft won the 25-meter backstroke (26.12) and Charlotte Helmick won the 25-meter freestyle (30.75) for the girls.

The 9-10 year-old age group won six events, four individual events and two relays. Getting the wins were Thomas Wilsoncroft in the 50-meter freestyle (41.50) and the 25-meter breaststroke (28.65) for the boys while for the girls it was Marishka Ware in the 25-meter backstroke (29.00) and Kara Hildreth in the 25-meter butterfly (39.47). The two relay wins belonged to the mixed teams of Ware, Hildreth, Lydia Wood and Wilsoncroft in the 100-meter freestyle relay (1:36.46) and that same foursome won the 100-meter medley relay (2:09.57).

Rylee Yardley won three events for the 13-14 year-old swimmers on the girl’s side taking the 100-meter backstroke (1:36.15), the 200-meter IM (3:28.03) and the 50-meter freestyle (38.18) while Liz Hurst won the 200-meter freestyle (3:21.13). On the boy’s side, Riley Bender won the 100-meter breaststroke (2:00.94) and the 50-meter freestyle (41.37).

The 15-18 year-old swimmers won five events, all by the boys.

The victories belonged to Preston Swift in the 200-meter freestyle (2:50.71), Preston Bennett in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:27.91) and Owen Caynor in the 50-meter freestyle (31.09), the foursome of Caynor, Bender, Swift and Bennett in the 200-meter freestyle (2:14.94) and that same foursome in the 200-meter medley relay (2:46.28).

The Splashers will swim Tuesday at the Fairmont Field Club with the Clarksburg Swim Team and then at home Thursday against MUAC.
