A 65-year-old man was arrested after allegedly posting threatening Facebook posts directed at St. Joseph’s Hospital and its staff.

The American Red Cross of Allegheny Highlands has set two upcoming blood drives in Upshur County and is urging residents to keep donating. Executive director Jason Keeling shared local service numbers, from CPR training to disaster response and support for military families.

Upshur County commissioners approved an $11.68 million budget for FY 2027 as rising regional jail costs continue to eat into revenue. The county set aside $1.6 million for jail bills as new tiered per-diem rates take effect July 1.

Buckhannon-Upshur’s Lady Bucs steamrolled Philip Barbour 16-0 in three innings, pounding out 15 hits with every starter collecting one. Payton Brown drove in six with two doubles, Kynnedy Marple added three RBIs, and Charity Talbott tossed a one-hit shutout.

Buckhannon-Upshur trailed 5-4 at halftime but couldn’t match University’s second-half surge, falling 12-7 on the road. Zack Simmons paced the Bucs with three goals, Gage Scott made 12 saves, and B-U drops to 1-2 ahead of Saturday’s home game vs. Jefferson County.
