Softball Lady Bucs pound out 18 hits in 10-5 road win over Grafton

GRAFTON – The Buckhanon-Upshur softball Lady Bucs had their best offensive output of the young season blasting 18 hits in a 10-5 victory over the homestanding Grafton Bearcats Monday evening in Big 10 Conference action.

Jensen Kimble came up big for the Lady Bucs, leading the offense with four hits while picking up the win in the circle.

She threw a complete game to even her record at 2-2, allowing just three earned runs on four hits while striking out eight.

Buckhannon-Upshur took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Kynnedy Marple singled home Quinn Burnside.

Grafton tied the game with a run in the bottom of the second and pushed across two more runs in the bottom of the fourth for a 3-1 lead.

B-U made it 3-2 in the top of the fifth when Kimble led off the inning with a double and scored on Reagan Mason’s single.

Buckhannon-Upshur blew the game wide open with a seven-run outburst in the top of the sixth inning for a 9-3 advantage. Avery Hamer capped off the inning with a two-run home run.

The Lady Bucs tacked on one more in the top of the seventh when Burnside scored on an error.

Grafton added two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run double by Karigan Wildroudt to wrap up the scoring.

Reese Curry and Mason added three hits for the Lady Bucs while Marple, Alyssa Abel and Burnside each had two.

The win improved the Lady Bucs to 3-5 overall and 3-1 in the Big 10 Conference.

Buckhannon-Upshur will play again Wednesday hosting Robert C. Byrd at 5 p.m.
