Soccer Lady ‘Cats end year with 1-0 loss to Davis & Elkins

ELKINS, W.Va. — The West Virginia Wesleyan (6-11-1, 6-9-1) women’s soccer team concluded its season and fell at Davis & Elkins (9-7-1, 8-7-1) on Sunday (Oct. 30) at Nuttall Field.

Wesleyan was outshot 11-2 in the first frame. Captain Beth Burchett and Kameron Bonneau each fired shots in the 15th minute of play. Davis & Elkins kept the pressure on its offensive end for the majority of the half. The Senators broke through in the 41st minute when Lianna Smith assisted Madison Rose for the game’s lone goal. Davis & Elkins was in front after 45 minutes of play.

D&E continued to control the game in the second half and limited the Lady Bobcats to zero shots in the second half of play. Ally Moore kept the Senators off the scoreboard in the second half and made six saves. Wesleyan could not find the equalizer.

Davis & Elkins secured a playoff spot with the win versus WVWC.
