Soccer Lady ‘Cats down Glenville State, 2-0

GLENVILLE, W.Va. — The West Virginia Wesleyan women’s soccer team (4-8-1, 4-6-1) secured a 2-0 victory over Glenville State (0-13-0, 0-11-0) on Thursday (Oct. 13) night at Sue Morris Stadium.

The Lady Bobcats struck right away as Ava Badallo scored her fourth goal of the season in the third minute of the contest. Wesleyan kept the pressure on Glenville State, as Gianna Patitucci fired a shot on goal in the 22nd minute of action. In the 29th minute, WVWC scored its second goal when Emma Pankiewicz connected a pass to Beth Burchett, who finished the opportunity with a goal, to put the Lady ‘Cats up two goals. The Lady Bobcats outshot Glenville State 7-3 in the first half and led by two goals at intermission.

Badallo and Burchett both fired shots on goal in the second half. Patitucci and Ellie Pergolotti also managed to record a shot on target in the second half. Wesleyan’s back line surrendered just one shot in the second half. Ally Moore made three saves in the game. Moore completed her fourth shutout of the season. Wesleyan won the match, 2-0.

The Lady Bobcats return to Ross Field on Sunday (Oct. 16) to take on Charleston at 1 p.m.
