Soccer Lady Bucs pick up nice non-conference 3-1 win over Brooke

TENNERTON – After going through a mid-season slump, the Buckhannon-Upshur soccer Lady Bucs are back to their winning ways after picking up an impressive 3-1 home win over Brooke Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

It was the second win in a row for the Lady Bucs as they improved their record to 10-5-3.

Brooke fell to 10-8 on the year.

“We played another solid game all-around as well as making great passes and runs throughout the game,” stated Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jason Piacente. “It was a very physical game, but our defense held strong, and we converted on our opportunities on offense.”

The Lady Bucs got onto the scoreboard early in the fifth minute of the contest behind a goal by Harley Dean with the assist going to Mallory Hughes.

That score stood at the half.

Dean treated the Lady Bucs to a 2-0 lead in the 47th minute on a penalty kick.

Haley Triplett got into the scoring act when she played a through ball from Dean and found the back of the net in the 56th minute.

Brooke avoided the shutout on an Ella McCullough goal in the 64th minute.

B-U owned a 7-2 advantage in shots-on-goal while Brooke held a 4-1 lead in corner kicks.

Buckhannon-Upshur was called for eight fouls while Brooke was guilty of 14.

B-U keeper Kyndal Davis made one save while Brooke goalie Franki Neff stopped six shots.

Buckhannon-Upshur will be back in action Monday in a key game with sectional foe University.

The game is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
