BUCKHANNON — The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats dropped a home match to visiting Concord University 2-1, Wednesday at Culpepper Stadium
Paloma Zamora riffled a blistering shot in the match’s first half to give the Lady Bobcats an early 1-0 lead. A failed clearing by Concord’s midfield left the ball in the center of the pitch 20 yards from the net and Zamora postage stamp planted it in the upper right corner.
A strong Lady Bobcat defensive stand in the first 45 minutes eased in the second and Concord took advantage, notching its first goal by Sydney Tucker in the 50th minute. The match winner came 10 minutes later when Tucker used a pass by Nora Voisey to put the Mountain Lions up for good.
Wesleyan travels to the University of Charleston Sunday, Oct. 22, for a 1 p.m. kickoff with the Golden Eagles.
