BECKLEY, W.Va. — The West Virginia Wesleyan (6-3-3, 4-3-3) men’s soccer earned three points at Concord (2-8-2, 1-8-1) on Sunday (Oct. 9) afternoon at Paul Cline Sports Complex, thanks to a game-winner from Javier De Ona Garcia.

In the first half, WVWC had the better of the half, having outshot the Mountain Lions, 8-3. The Bobcats created multiple chances but none were able to find the back of the net. The Bobcats went into the half even at 0-0.

In the second half, the Bobcats came out much more aggressive and were able to get behind threatening balls. A headed flick by Casey Bunker saw Javier De Ona Garcia on a one versus one with the goalkeeper in which he was able to drag it past him, leading the keeper the other way, and eventually being able to put it behind the net. The rest of the half saw a constant back-and-forth battle between both teams in which it was eventually concluded in a 1-0 victory for the Bobcats.

The WVWC Bobcats are back home on Wednesday (Oct. 12) for a match versus Wheeling.
