Soccer ‘Cats beat Seton Hill 1-0 as Donaldson wins 400th game

GREENSBURG, Pa.– Nika Monaselidze’s goal in the 66th-minute was all the West Virginia Wesleyan men’s soccer team needed to defeat Seton Hill on Saturday (Oct. 2). The victory marked a historic 400 career victory for head coach Gavin Donaldson.

In the first half, Seton Hill gave the ‘Cats a tough time outshooting them 7-2. The Griffins were only able to put three of those attempts on frame, goalkeeper Logan Nelson kept all three out of the net on the way to his second clean sheet of the season.

The second half saw more scoreless action up until the 66th minute. After a Seton Hill foul outside of the penalty area,

Monaselidze sent a ball under the SHU wall and past the outstretched keeper to give the Bobcats the 1-0 advantage. The goal marked Monaselidze’s fourth goal of the season.

Freshmen Dajun Barthley and Lance Cerullo made their debut in the Black & Orange and contributed valuable minutes on the way to the 1-0 victory.

WVWC will take on Frostburg State at Culpepper Stadium on Wednesday (Oct. 6) at 7 p.m.
