Soccer Bucs battle unbeaten East Fairmont but come up short in 2-0 loss

Buckhannon-Upshur swept Ravenswood, Gilmer County and Clay County without dropping a set, finishing 3-0 at the Gilmer County quad. The dominant showing improved the Lady Bucs to 10-7.
Buckhannon-Upshur Middle’s boys swept the Big Ditch Lake Invitational with 17 points, led by winner Felix Stump. Audrey Johnston and Taylor Wright placed third and fourth as the Little Lady Bucs finished third.
Buckhannon-Upshur dominated the chances but fell 1-0 to Robert C. Byrd after a controversial 14th-minute goal. The Lady Bucs outshot RCB 16-5 on target and will look to rediscover their finishing touch Thursday against Morgantown.
Buckhannon-Upshur controlled play for 65 minutes before Robert C. Byrd erupted for four late goals in a stunning 4-0 Big 10 loss. Coach Dalton Auvil said the Bucs lost composure after the opener and must finish chances and respond better to adversity.
