BUCKHANNON — Singer, songwriter and banjo player Kaia Kater will be in concert at the Colonial Arts Center, 48 E. Main St., on Thursday, Oct. 15, in downtown Buckhannon. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the show running from 6:30-8 p.m. The concert is presented by West Virginia Wesleyan College’s Center for Cultural and International Affairs, Bobcat Entertainment and Arts Alive! Suggested donation: $20 at the door and free for WVWC students/staff with ID.
Kater’s JUNO-winning and Polaris-nominated album, “Strange Medicine,” is her newest work, accompanied by Aoife O’Donovan. Since 2018’s album, “Grenades,” Kater has taken time to reinvent herself, attending film school to learn composition and diving deeper into songwriting to come up with her most personal album yet. A talented songwriter, banjo player and bandleader with three successful albums and an NPR Tiny Desk Concert under her belt, Kater continues to tell stories through song, drawing from her love of poetry, literature and composition to fold these stories into a larger narrative of the people who have been left behind by history.
Heavy appetizers and a Celtic showcase where people can shop for handcrafted jewelry and other items will be set up in the lobby.
