CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) is extending the application deadline for the Day of Service and Remembrance Grants.

This funding is designated to recognize and assist in the preservation of local and family cemeteries in West Virginia. Eligible projects include nominating cemeteries to the National Register of Historic Places, workshops & clean up days, interpretation, and rehabilitation. The deadline for receipt of applications submitted through our on-line portal (GoApply) is May 17, 2024.

This funding is available from Volunteer West Virginia as part of their September 11, 2024 Day of Service and Remembrance Grant program, and has been designated to recognize and assist the preservation or stabilization of local and family cemeteries, which may contain interments of veterans and persons from underrepresented communities.
