Shirley Warner

Shirley Warner, 81, of Buckhannon, died at her home on Sunday, December 29, 2019. 

She was born January 17, 1938, in Upshur County a daughter of the late Donald and Vernia Hollen Wamsley.  She was united in marriage on October 28, 1957, to Roy L. Warner who preceded her in death on May 28, 2010.

In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers; Junior and Don Wamsley, one sister Helen Rainey and one sister-in-law Audra May Dowell and one brother-in-law Marvin Shultz.

She is survived by three daughters: Sabrinna and husband Mike Wiley of Buckhannon, June and husband Gabe Devono of Bridgeport and Susan and husband Randy Cunningham of Buckhannon. She was a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren: Jessica and husband Rob Grose, April and husband Jason Lenhart, Wesley Cunningham, Kristen Wiley, Caitlin Wiley, Matthew Cunningham and Lauren Elizabeth and husband Niles Dailey; six great grandchildren:  Madison, Mackenzie and Robert Grose, Lana and Elliott Lenhart and Mya Smith; one sister Kay Brown of Buckhannon, one sister-in-law Ida May Shultz of Ohio and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Shirley was a 1956 graduate of Buckhannon Upshur High School. She was a member of the Heavner Grove CEOS. She loved gardening, sewing, and quilting. Most of all she enjoyed making quilts for each of her grandchildren. She looked forward each year at Strawberry Festival time to making the strawberry baskets to be auctioned at the Court House. She attended the Buckhannon Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. 

Friends will be received on Friday, January 3, 2020, at the Buckhannon Christian and Missionary Alliance Church from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., the funeral hour with Pastor Jeff Norris and Pastor Jack Bohman officiating. Interment will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society Upshur County Relay for Life.  The Warner family has entrusted the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel with funeral arrangements.
