Shelbia Jean Carpenter, 83, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon.
She was born June 23, 1937, in Hemlock, W.Va., a daughter of the late Emery and Sophia Hoover Zickefoose.
On March 31, 1967, she married Dorsey Carpenter who survives. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Marie Carpenter; one sister, Verine Leigh and two brothers, Camden and Thamer Zickefoose.
Mrs. Carpenter was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Hemlock. She was an associate member of the Upshur County Retired School Employees and an associate member of the Upshur County Sportsman and Conservation Club.
A graveside service will be held Monday, June 7, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hemlock with Pastor Holly J. Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Church Cemetery.
