Selvia Lester Phipps, Jr., age 92, of Buckhannon died on Monday, May 8, 2023, at Autumn Lake Healthcare in Elkins. 

He was born on August 2, 1930, in Baltimore, MD, a son of the late Selvia Lester Phipps, Sr. and Elizabeth May Riffle Phipps.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother Edgar Phipps; two sisters:  Louise Phipps Gum and Elsie Phipps Carpenter; three nephews and one niece.

He is survived by two sisters:  Marian Harris of Buckhannon and Ruth Hissam of Rock Cave; one brother James F. Phipps of Adrian; seven nieces and six nephews and several great nieces and nephews survive.

Mr. Phipps was retired from American Bridge, Division of U.S. Steel in Ambridge, PA. He was a Veteran, serving in the United States Marine Corps.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the West Virginia National Cemetery with the Upshur County Honor Guard conducting military honors.  At the request of the deceased flowers are to be omitted.
