Sandra Flossie Reed, 66, of Buckhannon, slipped gently into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, January 26, 2023, from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
She was born in Buckhannon on November 24, 1956, a daughter of the late Joyce and Mavis Ondlea Ware Small. In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Huey Small; and two sisters-in-law: Penny McCartney and Wanda McCartney.
On January 9, 1980, Sandra married the love of her life, John Wayne Reed. Together they shared just over 43 wonderful years of marriage and the joys of raising their children.
Forever cherishing their memories of Sandra’s selfless nature are two children: Angela Dawn Reed and companion, Melvin “Michael” Berroa, of St. Albans and John “John Boy” Wayne Reed Jr. of Buckhannon; two grandchildren: Alexis Bragg and Michael “Dorian” Bragg; eight siblings: Raymond McCartney Jr. and wife, Phyllis, Randall McCartney, Robert McCartney and companion, Patty, Debra Harrison and husband, Frank, Sue Small, Tommy Small and wife, Wilma, David Small and wife, Sandra, and Coachie Ball and husband, Scott; and several nieces and nephews.
Sandra was a Christian by Faith and attended The Union Mission Church on the Vicksburg Road. She attended Buckhannon-Upshur High School and liked reading religious books, both fiction and non-fiction. Sandra carried a Bible in her purse and read The Guidepost daily. The thing that her family will remember most about Sandra is her huge heart. She always took care of everyone, worrying about their needs before her own. Her nurturing didn’t just extend to people though, she loved gardening both vegetables and flowers, something she learned helping her mother. Sandra was very family-oriented and her life revolved around the people she loved. She spent her days caring for her home and family and treasured every moment. Sandra will be greatly missed.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at Clutter Funeral and Cremation located at 21 Elnora Circle in Buckhannon from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Clutter Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Estes officiating. Interment will follow at Upshur County Memorial Park in Tennerton.
