Ruth Louise Smith, age 77, of Buckhannon, WV, died Thursday, November 27, 2025, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
She was born January 7, 1948, in Grafton, WV, a daughter of the late William and Flora Losh Travis.
On June 8, 1974, she married Robert Eldon Smith who preceded her in death on November 10, 2020. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, John Travis.
Surviving are, two sons, Robert Eldon Smith, II and Jason Robert Smith both of Buckhannon; one grandson, Robert Eldon Smith, III of Washington, PA; one sister, Mary Annerino and husband Leroy of Warren, OH; one brother, Gary Travis and wife Terri of Wintersville, OH; one sister-in-law, Sharon Travis of Wellsville, OH and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Smith was a Methodist by faith and a history teacher by profession. She enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts of America, specifically Troop #100 in Buckhannon.
Friends will be received Monday, December 1, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 AM at the funeral home with Rev. James Zinn officiating. In honoring Mrs. Smith’s wishes, she will be cremated following services.
