Russell Murray

Russell Murray, 79, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, W.Va.

He was born December 31, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late James Francis and Elizabeth Selby Murray.

On September 9, 1962, he married Barbara Hoff who survives of Buckhannon. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Karen Shreve and husband Terry of Grantsville, W.Vz. and Lynne Gowan and husband Jeff of Narcoossee, Florida; one grandson, Michael Gowan of Narcoossee; one granddaughter, Janie McWhorter of Weston, W.Va. one great-grandson, Damian Pickens of Weston; two great-granddaughters, Brooklyn Hefner and Mia Alfred both of Weston; special caregiver, Marie Morgan of Buckhannon and extended family, Bob and Chrissy Workman of Buckhannon.

Mr. Murray was a member of the South Buckhannon Mission Church in Buckhannon and when he came to Buckhannon, he was the leader of a CD Ministry.

He was a graduate of Baltimore Poly Technic Institute, an alumnus of Johns Hopkins University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Friends will be received Saturday, June 20, 2020 from 10 a.m. to noon at the South Buckhannon Mission Church.

A private graveside service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the South Buckhannon Mission Church, 152 Randolph Street, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
