Russell John Rowan, 49, of Buckhannon, WV, unexpectedly passed away on September 22, 2026. He was born May 9, 1977, in Buckhannon, WV. He was the son of Robert Jearl Rowan and the late Pamela Suzette Rowan. Also preceding him in death was one son, Russell John Rowan II.
He is survived by two daughters, Cassandra “Casey” Rowan and Meredith Marie Rowan, both of Buckhannon, WV; one son, Ryan Jacob, of Adrian, WV; two granddaughters, Paisley Poling and Addison Rowan, both of Buckhannon; one brother, Robert J. Rowan II, of Buckhannon; and three of his closest friends, Billy “BJ” Ours, Becky Hinchman and Tina Bevans, all of Buckhannon.
He worked in the oil and gas industry, enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, and spent many years coaching his son’s sports and being a Cub Scout leader. Russell was also a handyman at heart and was always fixing something.
Russell loved his family deeply and was especially proud of his children and grandchildren. His presence, his stories, his sense of humor, and the memories he created with the people he loved will be carried with them forever. Though his time on Earth was far too short, the love he gave and the lives he touched will never be forgotten.
Friends will be received Monday, September 28, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Spencer Cunningham officiating. In honoring Mr. Rowan’s wishes, he will be cremated following the funeral service.
