Roscoe H. Bennett

Roscoe H. Bennett, age 90 years, a resident of Buckhannon, WV, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025 at Holbrook Healthcare Center of Buckhannon and under the care of WVU Medicine Hospice.

He was born October 14, 1934 at Beverly, a son of the late Wilson B. Bennett and Freda C. Simmons Bennett Straley.

On October 13, 1957 at Elkins, he was married to Hester Elizabeth “Pat” Keihl who survives in Buckhannon, WV. Also surviving are three sons, Roland Bennett and wife Lorie of Reading, PA; Rob Bennett and wife Katie of Morgantown, PA; and Tim Bennett and wife Mindy of Buckhannon, WV; and three daughters, Mary Bennett-Kramer and wife Tara of New Bloomfield, PA; Becky Prince and husband Dave of Colfax, CA; and Susan Bailey of Newark, DE.

One brother, Ronald Bennett and wife Debbie of Valley Head, WV; one half-brother, John Lewis and wife Anita of Wyomissing, PA; and one half-sister, Debbie Waltman and husband Robert of Powells Point, NC. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, Todd and Nick Bennett; Tabby Kuckuck; Kam and Kolton Mueller; Kaili McKernan; Carla, Sarah and DJ Bailey and Kaitlyn Bailey-Rehrer; Nathan and Crystal Prince; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death were brothers Rommie, Russell and Freddy Bennett; two infant brothers; and one sister, Frances Eilene Lafever.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy and worked as a coal miner with Bethlehem Mines Corporation for forty-five years prior to his retirement.

He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Buckhannon, WV. He loved to read and discuss the Bible and was an avid outdoorsman. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10:00 am until 11:30 am Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.

A funeral service and committal service will be held at 11:30 am Wednesday from the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Frank Stanley and Pastor Mike Tallman officiating. Interment will be at the Trinity Cemetery near Beverly.
