Robert “Bob” Linville Chaney

Robert “Bob” Linville Chaney, 90, of Fairmont, WV and formerly of Lorentz/Buckhannon, WV, entered the arms of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the Louis A. Johnson Veterans’ Administration Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. He was born on March 27, 1935, in Hamlin, WV. He was the oldest son to the late Alma Virginia Gibson and Claude Linville Chaney.

Those left behind to cherish Bob’s memory include the love of his life, his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Juanita Cecile Cochran Chaney; two sons, Robert “Bobby” (Cathy) Frost of Duncan, SC, and Claude (Myra) Chaney, of Moundsville, WV; two daughters, Virginia “Geannie” (Ray) Gilpin of Wellford, SC, and Kim (Jimmy) Sheets of Fairmont, WV; one sister, Helena Jo (Ray “Guts”) Nida of Barboursville, WV; and many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

He was a very proud grandfather to Bobby (Linnea) Frost, Lauren Frost, Olivia Frost (Zachary Prewitt), Matthew Frost, Jessica (Roth) Yath, Benjamin (Laura) Chaney, Andrew (Lacie) Chaney, Wyatt Sheets (McKenzie Bostick), Heidi Sheets (Chris Griffith), Magnus Sheets (Shelbie Hillberry), Garrett (Taylor) Crumbliss and “adopted” grandson, Jonathan Haskins. Bob’s great grandchildren, Colton and Madison Frost; Aiden, Gavin, and Stella Yath; Addilyn and Brooklyn Chaney; and Brantley McLaughlin, Alexis Thomas, and Waylon Chaney, were truly the apple of his eye! He enjoyed every moment spent with them and was so happy to receive new pictures and show them.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Jackie Lonnie Chaney. Bob was a proud Air Force Veteran. He loved watching football, basketball, and the little league world series, but when those weren’t on, he’d watch westerns on INSP. Another favorite past time was working word, find puzzles and playing solitaire on his iPad. He was an avid hunter for many years and even raised rabbit beagles at one time. He worked in the oil and gas field supply business for many years and was well known and respected for his knowledge and expertise in the area.

He will be remembered as a hard worker and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who loved his family deeply and gave the best and tightest hugs ever! Bob read his Bible daily and was Apostolic by faith. He loved, trusted, and put his faith in God.

Friends and family will be received Friday, December 12, 2025, from 10 AM to 1 PM at The Way of Holiness Church, 2337 Old Weston Rd., Buckhannon, WV. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM at the church with Pastor Jerry Murrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Lorentz Cemetery in Buckhannon, WV. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside.

Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
