Richmond Named Wildlife Manager of the Year

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia Division of Natural Resources Wildlife Manager Eric Richmond was awarded the Wildlife Manager of the Year Award by the National Wild Turkey Federation on Jan. 11 at its annual banquet.

Richmond has over 24 years of service with the agency’s Wildlife Resources Section. He worked for 11 years as the wildlife manager at Upper Mud River and Big Ugly Wildlife Management areas. For the last 13 years, he’s been assigned to the Amherst/Plymouth and Morris Creek Wildlife Management areas.

He has participated in a variety of projects in District 5, including bear population dynamics research and the elk reintroduction project. He trapped turkeys to be relocated to Texas and participated in the gobbler study. He also has been assigned to numerous day-to-day management activities throughout District 5.
