Richard Riley

Richard Riley, 88, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Friday, March 29, 2019, at his home.

He was born March 12, 1931, in Davis, W.Va., a son of the late Seymour and Nancy Bell Lawson Riley. On May 18, 1950, he married Ada Mae Teets Riley who preceded him in death on October 7, 2007.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Christina L. Kaull and two sons, Rodney Allen and Terry Riley.

He is survived by two daughters, Janet Kay Smith and husband Burl of Buckhannon and Regina Burstch and husband Kerry of Broussard, La.; two sons, Richard J. Riley, II and wife Cheryl of French Creek, W.Va. and Thomas J. Riley and wife Mary of Kesling Mill, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Seymour Vencil Riley of Buckhannon and one sister, Reba Hamilton of Monaca, Pa.

Mr. Riley served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was the Plant Manager for Reidboard Brothers and a Christian by Faith. Mr. Riley was a member of the V.F.W. Post 3663 in Buckhannon and D.A.V. in Buckhannon. He loved to compete in horse shows.

Friends will be received Tuesday, April 2, 2019, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Frank Spears officiating. Burial will follow in the Bailey Cemetery in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside.
