Richard “Dick” W. Claypool

Richard “Dick” W. Claypool, age 73, of Crawford, WV, died Thursday, April 25, 2024, at WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, WV.

He was born November 7, 1950, in Newell, WV, a son of the late Loyal Wilson and Leona Richardson Claypool.

On December 31, 1992, he married Virginia Tenney who survives. Also surviving are seven children, Ben Claypool and wife Sherry of Buckhannon, Christy Taylor and husband John of Belton, TX, Sabrina Loudin and husband Shannon, Cindy Roby and husband Bill and Mike Wamsley and wife Nancy all of Buckhannon, Cheryl Riffle and husband Eric of Midland, TX and Donald Wamsley and wife Melissa of Elkins, WV; 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Mr. Claypool was an Equipment Supervisor for the WV Department of Highways and retired after 37 years of service.

Friends will be received Friday, May 3, 2024, from 2 PM to 6 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In honoring his wishes, Mr. Claypool will be cremated after the viewing.
