Reverend Paul J. Ours

Reverend Paul J. Ours, age 92, of Buckhannon, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 9, 2024. He was born on June 1, 1932, in Upshur County, a son of the late Claudy and Gladys Kelley Ours. He was united in marriage on August 20, 1954, to Susan Elizabeth Elbon Ours, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: Paul Randal and wife Bonnie Ours of Buckhannon, Timothy Mark and wife Debra of Owasso, Oklahoma, and James Andrew and wife Donna Ours of Buckhannon. He is also survived by two grandsons: Jason Ours and Dustin and wife Lydia Ours; four granddaughters: Lindsay, Rachel, Abbey and Karrah Ours; one great-granddaughter, Ellee Jane Ours; one step-granddaughter, Jessica and husband Jeremy Bailey; and two step-great-grandsons: Samuel and Tristan Bailey.

Paul was the last surviving member of his family. He was preceded in death by one brother, James Floyd Ours, and two sisters, Virginia Fogg and Edith Mae Phillips.

Reverend Ours was a retired Evangelist and was licensed as an Evangelist with the Assembly of God Church. Paul was a decorated Korean War veteran who served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. He was a proud member of the Buckhannon VFW Post 3663, American Legion Post 7 and the French Creek DAV Chapter 36.

Friends will be received at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 1-2:00 PM, the funeral hour with Pastor John Darnall officiating. Interment will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park Cemetery where the Upshur County Honor Guard will accord military honors.
