Rev. Conrad Junior Tenney

Rev. Conrad Junior Tenney, age 92, of French Creek, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at his home with his loving wife of 68 ½ years by his side. 

He was born at Hemlock, WV on August 27, 1930, son of the late Floyd B. “Dave” and Nora Mae Daniels Tenney. 

On July 22, 1954, he was united in marriage to Celia L. Perry Tenney who survives.  Also surviving are the precious family he loved; three sons:  Conrad C. (Alice) Tenney, Joseph C. (Linda) Tenney, and Jack (Debbie) Rexroad; four daughters:  Sheila Richardson, Sandra Tenney, Sharon (Robbie) Bise, and Mary (Mark) Price; twelve grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother David (Cindy) Tenney; three sisters:  Emma Whitacre, Rosalea Jeffers, and Helen Tenney; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that he loved dearly. 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one grandson Isaac Bise; one granddaughter Tressie Tenney; daughter-in-law Lynn Tenney, four sisters:  Zelma, Verla, Leatha, and Lora; and four brothers:  Denver, Arnold, Dewey, and Doyle.

Rev. Tenney was a Pastor and Deacon in the WV United Methodist Conference for over 30 years serving Hacker Valley, Weston, and Newlon Charges.  He was a farmer, worked in timber, and worked at Corhart before entering the ministry. 

He served three years in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of Corporal, and served as the Chapel Assistant in Austria.  He was also briefly employed by the City of Buckhannon as a police officer. 

He was a graduate of Glenville State College and Duke Divinity School.  He was a member of the French Creek DAV, the Webster Springs VFW, the I.O.O.F. of Elkins and Hacker Valley Rebekah Lodge, the Rock Cave Lodge #81 A.F.&A.M., the Valley of Clarksburg Scottish Rite, and the Osiris Shriners of Wheeling.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, from 3-7:00 PM, at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel.  The body will lie-in-state at the Waterloo United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 1-2:00 PM, the funeral hour, with the Rev. Mark Price officiating.  Interment will follow in the Waterloo Cemetery where military and Masonic rites will be conducted. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Upshur Parish House or Crosslines, both at 68 College Avenue, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
