The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Tuesday that 3,431 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 94 cases since the last report.
Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (54), Barbour (13), Lewis (8), Randolph (228) and Webster (8) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of one active case in the last 24 hours.
One additional death has been attributed to the disease in the last 24 hours, according to the DHHR – a 62-year old female from Randolph County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of June 8, 2021, there have been 2,955,954 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 162,636 total cases and 2,822 deaths,” according to a press release.
The daily percent positive was 2.79%.
A total of 755,676 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said. That’s about 42% of the state.
