Pretty Peonies Parlor hopes to bring creativity, community to Buckhannon

Buckhannon-Upshur opens its boys’ soccer season Thursday at perennial power Morgantown. Backed by an experienced defense and strong senior leadership, the confident Bucs aim for a winning record and deep playoff run.

WVU’s 2026 Ruby Fellows, Logan Gold and Chyanne Reid, will receive funding to advance research in space systems and patient advocacy. Their work aims to improve environmental monitoring, robotics and how patients understand diagnoses.

Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania donated $25,000 to Feed My Sheep to support its operations. The organization has used most of the funds to purchase commercial refrigerators and freezers, as well as other items needed to operate the pantry.

The 2026 Golf and Sporting Clays Classic raised more than $100,000 to support WVU Cancer Institute patients. The money benefits the Live Like Brent Comfort Fund and the Connection 304 Fund.

Christopher Conrad, DO, has been named emergency department director for Vandalia Health Davis Medical Center and Webster Memorial Hospital. The rural healthcare leader will strengthen quality, patient-centered emergency services across the region.

Gov. Patrick Morrisey declared a 30-day state of emergency for all 55 West Virginia counties after severe storms caused flash flooding, mudslides and widespread damage. The order enables agencies to quickly deploy resources and support recovery efforts.
