JUNIOR — The body of a 32-year-old woman who had been missing in Barbour County since Tuesday has been found.
Barbour County Sheriff Brett Carpenter said the body of Brittany Paige Mearns, 32, was found in the Junior area on Thursday after being reported missing by family members the previous day.
“Officers arrived on scene shortly after [she was reported missing] to being thoroughly searching the area,” Carpenter wrote in a press release. “Unable to locate any signs of Ms. Mearns and darkness quickly approaching, officers then continued the investigation into the night to pursue any further leads of her whereabouts.
“Promptly the next morning, officers returned to the scene. Her body was found.”
No additional information was released due to the continuing investigation.
