Pedestrian struck at intersection of Florida, Main streets Friday

BUCKHANNON – A pedestrian was transported to the hospital with a head injury after she was accidentally struck by a truck at the intersection of Florida and Main streets Friday afternoon.

According to Lt. Doug Loudin with the Buckhannon Police Department, the pedestrian, 58-year-old Eulace Weaver, of Buckhannon, had been crossing Main Street at about 12:15 when she was struck by a gray Toyota Tundra truck being driven by Jessica Vincent, 29, also of Buckhannon.

Loudin said another vehicle crossing from North Florida Street to South Florida Street had impeded Vincent’s view.

“There was a car that was coming from North Florida to South Florida Street, straight across, and she (Eulace Weaver) started walking, when the girl (Vincent) in the gray Toyota Tundra didn’t see Eulace and struck her right there and stopped. Eulace fell and struck her head on the pavement.”

Loudin said Weaver was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for medical treatment, and no citations were issued.

“It was one of those unfortunate accidents,” he said.

Investigating officer Patrolman Angel McCauley with the BPD said Weaver was conscious and able to communicate with her prior to being taken to the hospital.

An update on Weaver’s condition was not immediately available.
