Ovid Wesley Duncan, Jr.

Ovid Wesley Duncan, Jr., 76, of Buckhannon, passed away in the comfort of his home and under the loving care of his daughter and grandson on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

He was born in Wheeling, WV, on December 12, 1945, the son of the late Ovid Wesley and Enid Rector Duncan. Along with his parents, Ovid was greeted at Heaven’s Gate by one infant son, Todd Wesley Duncan; one sister, Patricia McDaniels; and one nephew, Jeffrey McDaniels.

Forever cherishing their memories of Ovid’s Steadfast nature are one daughter, Stephanie Jack; one grandson, Gallatin Jack; one niece, Jackie McDaniels all of Buckhannon; and one aunt, Betty Rector of Parkersburg.

Ovid graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School as a member of the Class of 1963, and obtained a Bachelor of Library Science Degree from WV Wesleyan College. He worked at the Spencer State Hospital, the Huttonsville Correctional Facility for over 25 years, the USPFO in Buckhannon for over 5 years, and the U.S Army National Guard for over 26 years. Ovid was a lifetime member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, member of the Masonic Lodge, and a Shriner of the Franklin Lodge #7 in Buckhannon. He also enjoyed camping and watching WVU football and basketball.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to: Shriner’s Children Hospital, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 or Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 88 South Kanawha Street Buckhannon, WV 26201.

Ovid’s request for Cremation has been honored and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
