Buckhannon announces public meetings, yard waste pickup, farmers market, arts and theater events, holiday parades and celebrations, safety reminders, and upcoming community dates through 2026.

  • Yard Waste Collection for City Residents – Yard Waste (debris) will be collected from City of Buckhannon residents. Residents must contact Buckhannon City Hall to be placed on the collection list. City residents may take their bagged yard waste (debris) to the Transfer Station during regular operating hours at no charge, and may bring up to two truckloads per year, also at no charge.
  • Farmers Market in Jawbone Park: The Buckhannon Upshur Farmers Market will offer fresh produce and popular local items every Friday beginning at 2:30 p.m., in Jawbone Park now through Friday, October 31st.
  • CAC (Colonial Arts Center) Gallery – 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. – The 2nd annual “Booockhannon Art Exhibit” Opening Reception. For details, click here.

  • October 18, 2025 – Harvest Festival & Chili Cook-off hosted by Moon Flower, 46 East Main Street, Buckhannon, WV. Enjoy crafts, flowers, homemade goods, and thrift items. They will showcase chili made from 10+ local restaurants.
  • October 27, 2025 – Trunk-or-Treat will be held in the Public Safety Complex Parking Lot from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
  • October 31, 2025 – Trick-or-Treat in Buckhannon’s city limits from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
  • October 31, 2025 – Pop’s Furniture Halloween Costume Contest in Jawbone Park from 7:45 to 8:30 p.m.
  • November 11, 2025 – Veterans Day Parade down Main Street with activities afterward in Jawbone Park. The parade lineup begins at 8:30 a.m.
  • November 27, 2025 – Upshur County Recreational Complex will hold a 5K, beginning in Jawbone Park at 7:30 a.m.
  • December 5, 2025 – Buckhannon Fire Department Christmas Parade down Main Street at 6:00 p.m. Santa Claus will visit the Buckhannon Fire Department following the parade.
  • December 14, 2025 – Annual Menorah Lighting in Jawbone Park at 7:00 p.m.

  • Keep grass clippings out of the street as they can block stormwater drains and cause flooding. When mowing, always blow the grass away from the street.
  • Trash cans should be hidden from public view as much as possible during the week; place them at the curb the night before collection, and return them within 24 hours after collection.
