Hospital and community leaders gathered today to officially mark the start of construction on the Vandalia Health Mon Harrison Neighborhood
Hospital at Charles Pointe Crossing in Bridgeport—a project that will expand access to quality care for Harrison County and surrounding communities.
Modeled after the highly successful Vandalia Health Mon Marion Neighborhood Hospital in White Hall—which has set the standard for small-format hospitals in the region—the new two-story, 40,000-square-foot hospital will bring 24/7 emergency care, inpatient services, advanced imaging and future clinical space to the fast-growing development near Menards. With a total investment of nearly $30 million, the new facility is designed to provide patients with fast, efficient and reliable care in a more convenient, community-based setting.
“As someone who grew up right here in Harrison County, I couldn’t be prouder to see this project take shape. We know from experience that neighborhood hospitals can make a big impact—offering fast, expert care in a setting that feels more personal and accessible,” said Christopher Edwards, DO, Emergency Services Director of Mon Health System and Chief Administrative Officer for Mon Marion and Mon Harrison Neighborhood Hospitals. “We’re not just replicating a small-format hospital—we’re replicating a care experience that’s proven and consistently exceeds standards.”

The hospital’s first floor will include:
- A full-service emergency department with eight treatment rooms
- Ten private inpatient rooms for short-stay hospital care
- Advanced imaging including CT, MRI, ultrasound, X-ray and echocardiography
- On-site pharmacy and lab services
The second floor will be built as shell space, offering flexibility for future expansion based on community needs.

The development of the hospital was made possible through coordination with the City of Bridgeport, Harrison County Commission, Genesis Partners and the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district stakeholders. Construction of the new hospital is expected to be completed in 2026.
