Number of full vaccinations in West Virginia now tops the total number of cases

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Saturday that 395 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Locally, new cases were reported in Upshur (2), Lewis (4), Randolph (2) and Webster (2) counties.

A total of 126 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR.

Two additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – a 79-year old female from Berkeley County and a 93-year old male from Preston County.

“Our heart goes out to these West Virginians and their families,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary. “Please continue taking every precaution to slow the spread of this horrible disease.”

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of February 13, 2021, there have been 2,053,636 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 127,282 total cases and 2,201 total deaths,” according to a press release.

About 12,540 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 112,540 people have recovered and 2,201 have died. The daily percent positive was 3.54%.

A total of 135,212 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.
